This design marks an important point in my origami designing progression: my first full exploration into designing with 22.5. For those who don't know, the 22.5 designing method involves only (or mostly) using folds at 22.5 angles, one quarter of 90 degrees. This often allows for natural looking and elegant designs that have an easier folding sequence. The main thing I've learned from delving into this method is that the 22.5 design process is *very* iterative, and requires extensive test folding and many, many versions of a single design before reaching the final result. In the end, I'm very happy with the realistic proportions and details I was able to achieve, while still having a relatively straightforward crease pattern.
